HAPPY CONVENTION, EVERYONE! And if you feel like catching up on old GAY NERDS eps, you can watch them here. Exciting news in the pipeline!

Dreams really do come true! And it should come as no surprise to you that our dreams are very nerdy.

GAY NERDS will be on Space Channel! This past Monday, the Toronto Public Library held a talk with series creator JP Larocque about the genesis of the show and queer representation in the media, followed by a screening of some of his favorite episodes.

And as part of the festivities, a crew from Space Channel’s InnerSpace interviewed JP, Ryan Kerr (Sammy) and Alexandra Wylie (Lana) for an upcoming segment. It was a fantastic evening, and one made even better by bringing the show one degree closer to Orphan Black. Call us, Tatiana Maslany.

The episode airs Friday, October 2nd at 6pm & 11pm EST. Once the footage is online, we’ll make sure to post it here. And stay tuned for some exciting news about what’s next for the series. Goooooooooo GAY NERDS!

UPDATE 10/05! Here is the segment! Thanks for the love, Space Channel!

Have you been consumed by Spring Fever? Smelling lots of flowers while cruising those public parks? Us, too!

We’ve volunteered at and attended this festival since we were baby gays, so to be included as part of this year’s line-up is a huge honour. Here is JP Larocque alongside fellow filmmakers Pat Mills and Austin Wong at the launch party on April 30th.

The screening is at 3:00pm, and will be the WORLD PREMIERE of our season finale, “The Fellowship of Sarah Michelle Gellar,” followed by a panel with the filmmakers at:

350 King Street West
Toronto, ON
M5V 3X5

Thanks for the love, folks! Whether you’re watching us on your desktops, laptops, phones or at festivals, we appreciate your support.

Some hometown festival love for GAY NERDS from the folks at Inside Out LGBT Film Festival. Come watch the premiere of our season finale “The Fellowship of Sarah Michelle Gellar” on June 1st! And stay for a panel featuring creator JP Larocque in provocative underwear.

“Inside Out is thrilled to present the who’s who of the finest LGBT web series on the Internet. The Web Series Showcase features both critically-acclaimed titles and highly-anticipated debuts. The full line-up includes Little Horribles, F to 7th, Féminin/féminin, Leslieville, Gay Nerds, Other Men and Roommates. Filmmakers will be in attendance for a panel discussion on the meteoric rise of the web series platform on June 1 at 3pm.”

We’re still at it — putting the finishing touches on our second episode (for release in February) while finishing up production on the final episodes of Season Two. It has been a busy month! That being said, our cast and crew have been troopers — working through Polar Vortexes, power outages, ice storms, crowd scenes, unfortunate injuries, and even THE HOLIDAYS. What?!?

We’re SO proud of the work we’ve done thus far, and can’t wait to share it with you. Stay tuned for more snaps and info as we get closer to the release of episode two — “28 Gays Later”!

Big love to Hope over at Geekpron (G33KPRON) for this fantastic write-up of our second season premiere!

“The first season, featuring slice-of-life parodies of Batman, Jurassic Park, Alien, Breakfast Club, and Silence of the Lambs featured quick witted dialogue and fantastic performances by the cast. I would also like to say, Gay Nerds is one of the highest-quality non-professional webseries I have ever seen in my entire life.”

WOW. Thank you. Check out the full article here.

We’re still at it! As summer turns to fall, we are still hard at work crafting the second season of our show. Below are some production photos from our most recent shoot day.

Robert Keller (Ralphie) and Ryan Kerr (Sammy) are enthralled by something off-screen. What is it?

Director JP Larocque and Director of Photography Graeme Mislan work hard on getting the right shot. There’s an Easter Egg in this photo.

On-set security. (The Easter Egg is more visible this time around.)

Friends until the end.

Possibly the best picture. Ever.

Terrified in the woods.

What waits behind that door?

Lots o’ gore!

The boys strike a pose.

The ladies of GAY NERDS!

Turning to friends for advice!

Sammy, Paige, and Lana — together at last.

Gay Scripting.

He’s dressed in red, but everyone wants to see his pink ranger.

Director JP Larocque helps to give Robert Keller some powerful motivations.

It’s almost better without any context.

Our version of 3D is having our actors thrust things into expensive camera equipment.

Alexandra Wylie and Ryan Kerr yuck it up during a very early call.

The set bustling with activity.

Just a regular day.

Paige (Justine Moritz) tends to fall head over feet.

Our cast! Yay!

Stay tuned! Lots more to come!

Recently, GAY NERDS creator JP Larocque had the chance to sit down and interview some Toronto-based filmmakers for a piece on queer Canadian web series for the LGBT paper Daily Xtra!.
