“The show’s distinctive blend of film and television parody and sharp view of gay geek culture is sure to put a smile on your face.” – The Advocate

“Gay Nerds is one of the highest-quality non-professional web series I have ever seen in my entire life.” – GEEKPRON

“The suspicious foreigners behind the very funny and very geeky web series GAY NERDS, it turns out, are even HUGER dorks for Sigourney Weaver than they are for legal weed, gay marriage, nationalized health care, and poutine.” – GeeksOUT.org

GAY NERDS is a web-based comedy series about a group of outsiders who don’t fit the traditional “gay” mould, and who use pop culture to make sense of the world around them. What if dropping stuff off at an ex-boyfriend’s house was like being attacked by a T-Rex in Jurassic Park? Or vacationing with your best friend was like staying at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining? Or navigating the back room of a gay bar was like escaping the alien hive in Aliens?

Every episode presents a hilarious scenario, but then puts a nerdy spin on it – parodying the television shows and movies that the characters love.

Since launching in 2012, GAY NERDS has received coverage in The Advocate, AfterElton.comand Canada’s own Space Channel, and has picked up some hardware at the 2013 Indie Soap Awards and at the 2014 LA WebFest! The show has also had a successful run on the festival circuit, with screenings at The Sudden Impulse Film Festival, TO WebFest, LA WebFest, Vancouver WebFest, and The 2014 Inside Out LGBT Film Festival.

In July 2012, a stage version of GAY NERDS debuted at the Toronto Fringe Festival and played to packed houses, receiving positive notices in NOW Magazine, Torontoist, Mooney on Theatre, and Fab Magazine. A monologue from the play was also selected for inclusion in the published anthology City Voices: A Book of Monologues by Toronto Artists.

In 2016, OUTtv picked the series up as part of their Best of the Web programming. A third season is in the works.
